Autonomous companion robot — in development

NEXUS

Networked Exploration and eXpressive Utility System

A ground-up robotics build: computer vision, dual arms, obstacle-aware movement, and a face that actually expresses something. Built one subsystem at a time, documented as it happens.

What NEXUS is built to do

Vision

Object recognition and scene understanding through an onboard camera, feeding decisions back to the movement and arm systems.

Movement

Autonomous navigation with ultrasonic obstacle detection, built for a small footprint that can operate in a home.

Arms & grippers

Two articulated arms with lightweight hands, sized for real pick-and-place tasks rather than demos.

Expression

A screen face and voice output, so status and intent are readable at a glance instead of hidden in logs.

Currently in the prototyping phase

NEXUS is a long-term build, not a weekend project. Right now the chassis, drive system, and account platform are being worked out in parallel — hardware on one track, software on another, meeting in the middle at a shared command protocol.
